Situated on a hill to the right of the Tennacola river, Sarnano is one of the few towns in Le Marche whose historic centre remains completely intact. The design is that of a ‘castrum’, a walled city with narrow streets unwinding in a spiral, intersected by a warren of tiny side streets. Thankfully, most of these are unsuitable for modern vehicles and a wonderful atmosphere of peace and tranquility pervades this magical place. The quickest and cheapest way to get to Villa Borghetti from the UK is to fly with Ryanair from London Stansted to Ancona airport. We book from Friday to Friday, when flights tend to be cheaper than at weekends. The flight takes just over two hours. From the airport it’s an easy drive of about 70 minutes, mostly on the autostrada (toll €2.50) and superstrada (dual carriageway). Detailed directions from the airport will be sent when you book. You can also fly with Ryanair to Pescara or Bologna Forli, both about two and a half hours away, while from Rome it takes about three and a half hours. |
