![]() MONTE SAN MARTINO, LE MARCHE. ITALY. Casa Lola - a villa situated in a breathtakingly beautiful location. Apart from the glorious Italian weather, renaissance art & wonderful food, enjoy some of the most beautiful walking Italy has to offer, or just relax by the pool & soak up the beauty of the region. .LOCALITY There are details of many places, day trips and restaurants in the house. If you tire of the mountain views and hill top villages, you can head off to the Italian Riviera for the day. It takes about 50 mins' to get there and once you have chosen your resort, be it San Benedetto or Porto Recanati, you can wallow in the warm sea, and eat copious amounts of sea food as you rest beneath the colourful umbrellas running along the beaches. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We are lucky to have Liz and Barry an English couple living all year round near by, who look after and run the house for us. They usually meet clients when they arrive, and show them around the house. They are a phone call away if you need help with anything. We will give you their details once booking is underway. ![]() For those of you that love walking, Casa Lola is on the edge of the Sibillini National Park & a short drive away there are some of the most beautiful treks be undertaken in Italy. Possibly the most famous is the journey up to Lago di Pilato (it is said that Pontius Pilate is buried here), and also Gola dell'Infernaccio (Hell's Gorge) where you can visit the hermit monk, perched at the top of the crag with his hand-built church. These mountains are every bit as dramatic as the landscape of the Dolomites with refuges to be found in isolated spots. The local walking near to house is outstanding as well; it's possible to walk to Amandola along pathways. It's a 1/2 hour steep walk down to the lake where you can get a cold beer from the friendly Osteria to cool you down! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Market Day in Sarnano There are some great restaurants and markets to be found in the region. On Wednesday mornings you can find local fresh fruit, veg and bric-a-brac in Amandola, and on Thursday morning a larger version of this in Sarnarno. There are plenty of restaurants serving delicious local food nearby. In Monte San Martino there are 2 - Le Querce, and Da Priori, both delicious and worth a visit. (le Querchy is our favourite, The food is very plentiful and cheap. Starters are a meal in itself. Paulo the boss is out front, his wife does the cooking. He is good at carne a la brache - grilled meat but also look out for home-made pasta dishes plus his soup. The locals love this place because they appreciate a bargain.
