 Situated in a panoramic position Agriturismo Il Casato is a 250 year old stone and brick farmhouse just outside the little village of Castelraimondo. It has been converted into an 8 room agriturismo, now with another 6 apartments converted from other farm buildings. Together with a special 'Cucina' classroom where you can learn how to make pasta and other local Italian dishes with the owners Mario and Mara Boria.  . .The local landscape, close to the mountains, has green hills and valleys of rolling vineyards which make the famous Verdicchio di Matelica. The house and apartments have been renovated with total authenticity retaining many original features, such as beamed ceilings, tiled flooors and stonework, and furnished to a good standard.  Location Il Casato has panoramic views across the Potenza and Esino river valleys and of the Apennine mountains. Mario likes to call it the "heart of the heart" of Marche. Close to Matelica with its Armani outlet, only 40 minutes from Ancona airport, an hour from Assisi and from the beautiful Frassassi caves. 40 minutes from the lovely beaches of Sirolo and Numana.  The whole region is full of unexpected gems: Roman ruins, fine abbeys and Romanesque churches, and enticing villages, for example, Gubbio, Camerino, and Norcia. The mountains offer amazing excursions on foot or by mountain bike, sports such as canoeing on the lake, climbing, paragliding and in the winter, skiing. Mario will also take you black truffle hunting at the right time of year with the truffle-hunting dogs, their own fruit trees provide organic fruit and their own organic meat and homemade pasta is prepared by Mara in the huge kitchen. Then of course every meal is served with Marios dry, apricot-scented verdicchio that is pressed from grapes growing just beyond the front door. Mario Boria Il Casato Loc.
