Gualdo is close to the majestic Sibillini Mountain range and the Sibillini National Park which provides the most breath-taking scenery in central Italy. There are 20 peaks over 2000m. and several ski resorts. The whole area is a walkers paradise with many mountain paths, guided walks and a stunning array of wild flowers in the spring. Le Marche (pronounced markay) is rich in historial, artistic and cultural heritage which has been preserved. Le Marche, unlike its neighbours Umbria and Tuscany, is relatively undiscovered and still unspoilt by tourism. The area is rural and very little English is spoken, but the local Italians are very friendly and helpful, especially if you speak a few words of Italian. The Adriatic coast, 45 minutes away, has beautiful white sandy beaches with excellent swimming and fresh fish restaurants.

Ski at Sassotetto in the winter, find Lake Fiastra for sunbathing or swimming in the summer, visit medieval towns such as Sarnano and Montefortino. Macerata, the provincial capitol offers outdoor opera in July and August held in Italy's best open-air venue outside Verona. Tolentino has gothic frescos of medieval life.... the Abbazia di Fiastra is a cistercian abbey with a nature reserve ... investigate the Roman ruins at Urbis Salvia and Falerone .....Ascoli Piceno has the most beautiful piazza of marble......So many wonderful discoveries untouched by regular tourism.

Principal airports are Ancona (60 minutes) and Pescara (90 minutes) for flights from the UK and Europe. Travellers from the USA and other long haul destinations usually come via Rome or Bologna (3 hours).

Please note. There is a third house on this location privately owned.
