The lime and clay soil is at an average elevation above sea level of 200 metres. In recent years the Capineras' have implemented a serious plan to replace older vines with practical modern plantings. Low cropping levels of no more than 60 quintals and scrupulous bunch selection complete the cellar's strategy to improve quality year after year.  ... The Chardonnay 2002 is a deep straw with herbaceous and tropical fruit aromas. The front palate is tangy and refreshing echoing the nose and juicy fruit accompanies the nicely poised finish. The limpid ruby Roso Peceno Duca Guarnerio 2001 melds delicious fruit and flowers on the nose. Attractive fruit returns in the mouth where elegance and freshness take precidence over muscle Cardinal Minio 2001 is a monovarietal Merlot Amaranth red in the glass it flaunts ripe fruit aromas shading into tobacco and leather. The very refreshing palate also has nice concentration braced by smooth close knit tannins and the finish plays off intense fruit against light balsam and spice". |
